About the Event
Join Captain Chip and First Mate Olga on the MV TECIANI for a scenic 2-hour cruise down the Damariscotta River in Damariscotta, ME. We will be joined by our guest speaker Dana Morse of Maine Sea Grant (Darling Marine Center, University of Maine). Bring your camera to catch seals, bald eagles, and oyster farmers, and bring questions about oysters and Maine.
On our cruise we will see oyster farms and wildlife such as deer, eagles, osprey, seals, alewives, mussels, and river herring. Our guide will educate us on the history and development of the area and the oyster farms’ comeback.
Upon our return we will have lunch on our own. Damariscotta is a small but beautiful town on the river with interesting stores, restaurants, cafes, and ice cream/gelato shops.
Handicap Accessibility: The boat and dock are handicap accessible except for wheelchairs.
Departure: Durham 8:45 AM and Newington 9:00 AM. Approximate return: Newington 6:30 PM and Durham 6:45 PM.
