Gentle Subversive: Rachel Carson’s Life and Message
The historian Mark Lytle aptly called Rachel Carson ‘the gentle subversive’ because she rarely raised her voice and espoused some ideas that challenged the mainstream. Indeed, she was one of the first people in the 1960s counterculture! In this illustrated lecture Professor Kurk Dorsey of the UNH History Department will explore how Carson’s ideas developed and what she tried to accomplish, as well as what she actually did.
